Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal works by emitting a laser light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This process inhibits or delays future hair growth. Treatments are dependant on a Skin Type Guide. This guide classifies your skin colour and it’s sensitivity to the sun. There are 3 main skin types: Pale to white skin, burns easily and rarely tans, light brown skin which sometimes burns and slowly tans, and moderate brown to dark skin which rarely burns and tans well.

Benefits

Waxing and shaving are commonly misunderstood as the safer options since they have been the common method of hair removal for a longer period of time. However, when waxing, you are pulling the hair from the root and in doing so you are damaging the hair bulb. When shaving you are putting your skin at risk of irritation, pimples, abrasions, rashes and more.

Areas that can be treated include:

• Underarms
• Full Face
• Side Burns
• Upper Lip

• Chin
• Areola
• Arms
• Legs

• Bikini
• Brazilian
• Back

FAQS

Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?

Laser hair removal is semi-permanent as some hair always has the chance to grow back, however hair that does grow back is less and at a reduced rate. Re-growth can be affected by hormones and other biological factors which vary from person to person.

How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?

The intervals between treatments will depend on the area being treated and the hair/skin type. Generally, we recommend 4-6 week intervals, however, each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so recommendations will vary.

What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?

Before your appointment, we ask that you shave the area 12-24 hours before your treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure on the area being treated two weeks prior (including solariums or tanning drugs). Do not wax or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment.

Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?

One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin.
