Fractional Laser

Fractional Laser is a non-invasive treatment used to target a fraction of the skin at a time, much like a photograph being altered pixel by pixel. While some lasers work only on the surface of your skin (epidermis) and others on the mid-layer of skin (dermal collagen), Fractional Laser can work at both the epidermal and dermal layers. Concerns such as sun damage, surgical or acne scarring, and wrinkles can be treated with Fractional Laser.

  1. How It Works

Our skin is made of 3 layers, the epidermis (outermost), dermis (middle) and subcutis (lower fat). The epidermis contains pigment producing cells while the dermis is made of collagen and elastin. As we age the epidermis becomes thinner, making blemishes more visible and collagen in the dermis gradually decreases, forming sagging skin and wrinkles. Fractional Laser works by targeting both these two layers of the skin, expelling pigments in the epidermis and stimulating collagen remodelling in the dermis.

  1. Benefits

Fractional Laser is ideal for anyone aged 25 to 65 who wants to improve their skin texture. From softening fine lines, lessening acne scars, healing surgical scars, lightening age spots, balancing skin tone and reducing stretch marks, Fractional Laser will provide you with the smooth, rejuvenated skin you’ve always dreamed of.

Am I suitable for Fraction Laser?

Anyone looking for a non-invasive treatment to improve the texture of their skin is an ideal candidate. If you have previously received injectables or fillers in the desired treatment area you must let us know and wait one month before commencing any Fractional Laser treatment.

Is Fractional Laser painful and is there downtime?

Pain is dependent on the amount of energy being delivered to the treatment site, each client will have a tailored setting. A strong anaesthetic cream is applied prior to commencing treatment. Minimal swelling is common for about 2-3 days and slight redness will occur for no more than 5 days.

When will I see results?

New epidermal layers of skin develop within 24 hours of treatment. Skin may appear bronze for up to 14 days and flaking of the skin is common as the new skin replaces dead skin tissue. Peeling skin is an indication the treatment is working and should be gently removed with water, petroleum jelly and gauze. Results will progress over 3 to 4 months, during this timeframe complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue occurs.

How many treatments are needed?

We recommend 4 to 5 treatments depending on the energy level of treatment and severity of skin condition.

What is the aftercare like?

During the healing phase and several months after treatment we recommend protecting the treatment area from sun exposure.
